Skateboard
How are skateboard and longboard wheels manufactured?
Pigment is added to polyurethane during the melting process to create polyurethane wheels. Molds are filled with liquid and cooled. Using a lathe, the polyurethane wheels are cut to a specified size once they have solidified in the mold. Are longboard wheels different than skateboard wheels?
Longboards have large, soft wheels for faster and smoother riding. Unlike a snowboard, a skateboard has smaller, harder wheels that make shredding rails, ledges, and gaps easier. Smoother and more coordinated rides are possible with softer wheels if you plan to just cruise on your board. What material is used for longboard wheels?
Polyurethane is a petrochemical used in skateboard and longboard wheels. You can get it in all sorts of cool colors, and it's bouncy and grippy.
